Meadows Library blog 2nd Semester 2008
This year, you will write at least one paragraph every night that you had a Library Media Aide class during the day. The purpose for this assignment is to strengthen your descriptive writing skills and provide a record for yourself, your parents and for me about what you do each day during this class. I prefer 3 paragraphs of well-written, correctly spelled descriptive record of what you did during your Library Media Aide class. This blog participation is one rubric for this class. The more that you write the higher your grade will be in the class.

today in media aid we took off the barcodes on a bunch of books and marked over every place it said maedows. After that we took the books to mr. zipser and ms. geocobe.

Today in media I came in a little late so i didn't get to check in any books. But, after that we started peeling off lables on old books and marking all of the MADISON MEADOWS black so you can't see it. Then, towards the end of class we brought the books that we had completed to Mr. Zipsers class- becausehe and Ms. Giacobbi are having a competition.

Today in Media Aide there was one book to check in so I did that. Then, we took books for the book drive and made sure that nothing said Madison Meadows on it. Then we gave the books to Mr. Zipser.

i filmed the announcement, and put away books. After that we took all the books Mrs. Roof wasn't going to use, and gave them to Ms.Giacobbee's book drive, for the unfortunate.

Today in library we had a sub so we didn't do much. I turned on the National Anthium this morning. Then I checked in some books and put them away.
today Ms.Roof was not here so we filded the book in the correct spot and then we blogged.......

Today in Media aid Mrs. Roof was absent so we went on the computers, and i helped the sub find a movie for a class.

Today in media aide we had a substitute Mr. Winters. He told us we had nothing to do so all I had to do was blog this and I pretty much have free time.
Today in media we first checked in books and put them on the carts to be shelved. Next Ms. Roof showed us what to do which was to take the labels of old books and scratch and thing out that said Madison Meadows. Then a small class walked in and put their books in the book drop Ms. Roof was helping one of them when a girl wanted to check out her book so we went and did it but she had three books checked out. And then she said I turned in two so he checked them in. after that I checked out her books and we went back to what we were doing until the bell rang.

Today we had a sub. All we did today was have free time on the computer. Me and Robyn wish we could play on the smartboard! Nexed time leave your laptop so we can play on the smartboard!
today in media aid i did the announcments and put away the returned books. then i took books 15 years or older off the shelf and in to a book for shiping.
Today we did the same thing that we did last time. We took books for the book drive and made sure that none of them had anything on that said Madison Meadows. A couple times some kids would walk in and we would check in books for them. At the end of the period we took the books to Mr. Zipser.

Today in Media Aide, we wrote the powerpoint for the rest of the week. This took about half the class. Then, we crossed out barcodes 'n such o books we were giving to other schools so they wouldn't return it to us.

I took books to Ms. Giacobbe's, and those books were not library use anymore. I then tooke barcodes of some books. Lastly I put some books back.
We took outdated books off the shelves to be given to less fortunate schools. Today we took the outdated books to Zipser and Giacobbe for the NJHS book drive.
Today we delivered books to Ms. Giacobbe and Mr. Zipster. Then we took tags off a box of books. Then we put books away.

Today in media aide, we did, guess what, MORE TAPING! We used this cool kind of tape that had strings in it. It was weird. I probably taped around thirteen, sixteen books today. we put the new covers on and taped them in place. I think "more taping" is now an inside joke.

Today in media aide we first checked in books and checked to see if some books were properly magnetized. Next wechecked to see if labels were on books and put them on shelves. Lastly we took new books out of boxes and put them on these racks and then we had to leave. My blogs have been coming out under the name whiffleboller. Just a f.y.i.
What i did last class period (FORGOT TO BLOG LAST TIME!) was we put labels on books! thats it!

Today in library one of the teachers was holding the advanced placement tesing for the younger kids. So we had to go in the back room to work. I had to rip off all of the barcodes form the old books. Then I had to black of anything on the book that said that it was form Madison Meadows.
Today we learned how to laminate books a different way. It takes so long to do. But the job was fun and I know how to laminate.
Today in media aide we learned how to laminate books in a different way than using the machine. But to me it takes to long for use to do it that way. Although it was fun.
Today in Media Aide we laminated book covers. After laminating a couple we cut them out. Then I started to fold the book covers while evryone else cut them out. A couple of people came in so we checked in and out a couple of books.

Today in media we colored of the MADISON MEADOWS stamps agian and peeled of the barcodes and side labels. This was the third and finally day we did this. Then, the bell rang.

Today in media aide we started by checking in a few books. Then, we laminated a few new book covers and cut them out. It was a lot of fun laminating the covers!!!

on tuesday we torre tape off of books. we also checked out some bools. aldo we checked in somebooks.
Today we stamped books. Then when we were done there was more books to do. After we were compleatly done we had free time on the computers. Tuesday we took of tape on books. Then we crosed out library meadows stamps, so we can get rid of them.
today eric wa s gone... again. we re stamped books because the first class messed them up. We also got more and more through out the class. Now we are all blogging.

Today in Media aid we learned how to scan books and let people check them out. I think I will like doing this. We also learned how to tape the book's numbers on the spine, and on the front of the book. We had to order the books today which was fun.

Today in Media Aid, I learned how to check out books for people and I also learned how to find out the book's code, and put in into the computer. It was really confusing.. but I think Mrs. Roof will teach us more about it on Tuesday (my next class with Media Aid.) Since I was the only one with a google account at first, I got to tape books. I got done about 20, then Katie got done and helped me with the last few. When we were done with that we got to take them to the book shelf, and put them in order from numbers. I think this class will be fun!

Today in Media Aid we learned how to find the book's sticker, and put it on the book. Then when we were done putting the stickers on, we taped it. We did this process to about ten to twenty five books, or more. When we were done with that, we checked in six books, but then the bell rang and we just stacked the books on the table for the next class to take care of.

Today in media aid class we just taped books up and we also put the books barcode number in the computer. The reason we did this was because some of the books had no number, and in order to let them get a number, you had to print it out on sticky stickers. We also got to scan three books and magnetize them so they would be ready to get checked out again.

Today in Media Aid we taped books , and we checked in a few books. We also put in like fifty barcodes to print out their number, so we could put them onto the books. Then it came out on sticky stickers, and we put those on the book then taped it.

Today in Media Aid, we had a class. There were eighth graders in the room looking for poem books. We got to check in about 15 books, but then the bell rang. We also got to check in a few books that were in the bin. This was a fun class today!

Today in media aid we taped books. We taped about 20-25 books and then we put them back into their cubby. Next, we put the racks by the green board in the front of the room. We had to then put the new books into a rack and separate the cardboard boxes.

Today in media aid we got some old books in a box and we took off anything that said Madison meadows on it. We also checked in a few books. Since my book was overdue I also renewed my book so I could have more time to read it. We also took off all the barcodes on the books so that they wouldn't find out whose it was and return it. We don't want those back. Thats about all we did today.

Today in Meadia aid we got these new books, and we got their book's cover, and we had to fold the side, middle, and other side to make it fit the book right. We did about twenty books. When we were done with that, Mrs. Roof had us put this special kind of tape on the two sides of the book so that it would stay on correctly. It was fun to do this for me because i love the smell of brand new books, and it was fun cutting out the labels for them. I'm glad I could help!

Today in Media Aid was a crazy day. First off, we got the books out of the check in bin, and scanned them and put them through the scanner. Then we got the books on the basket and we put them away. Then when we had nothing else to do, we got a progress report. Since I had no idea I was on the wrong web-page, and I didn't know, she had me go on the right website and copy and paste every one from the ones on the old web-page. Then the bell rang and I didn't know what to do because it wouldn't work because it was so long. Then Mrs. Roof figured it out and I was free to go.
today we highlighted the slips for overdue books and put them into the teachers boxes. We also took two boxes of old books to zipser and giacobbe.
Today, at first we started by doing the announcements, (again) but then we learned how to put in magazines. It is nothing at all like the books. You put things on a stickynote-ish thing with the date that it is for. Then, they have a card catalog instead of an internet dealie. You check off that you got it. I'm not sure why some dates don't have sticky notes.

Today in media aide we first checked in books and put them back on the carts to be shelved. Then we fixed messed up reference book and put them on the shelve not all were messed up though. Then we put the tape with white lines on it on books that needed it .And last we stamped the books in the front on page 33 and on the back we had to fix some that people messed up to.
Today in media aide Ms. Roof wasn�t here so while he magnetized the book I ran the attendants down. When I came back I magnetized some books and put them on the shelve than I bloged.

Today was TCT schedule. So what we did today was we took off the tape that said madison meadows on them and ripped those off and all in the inside wherever it said madison meadows.. we had to mark out with sharpie. That's about all we did today because it was so short. It felt like it was only ten minutes.

Today in Media Aide took out old books. Ms. Roof had papers printed out that had a list of books that needed to be found and put in a box. We did pretty good and found a lot of books.

Today we put sharpie marks over any sign that Meadows owned the book. There was a huge pile. It took me about one minute a book to do. Today was TCT so we weren'there for that long.

Today in media aide I checked in books. Then i put stickers on the spine of the book then I put on tape onto the spine of the book so the little sticker didn't come off. This is what I did in Media Aide.
Today we put the labels on nonfiction books. We checked in some books. And Ms. Roof told us that she would not be her all of next week.

Today in Media Aide we took all the books in the donating aisle and we crossed out all the things that said madison meadows, but all the things that just had the barcode and stuff we just ripped off. Also, during the beginning of it, we just took all the check in books and scanned them. That's about all we did today.

Today, 2-29-08, we did even more sharpie-ing. My next class was meeting in the library so I didn't need to go anywhere. It was really convenient. Scince we're being very redundant, I don't have much to say.
I checked books in and out books and then I checked out books. Now I am on my way to my field trip.

On March 4th, 2008 in Media Aide we had a sub. First we put some books back. The a seventh grade class came in. We played on the computer for the rest of the period.
Today in media aide, Mrs. Roof was away so we had a sub. He said the last period did most of the things that were needed to be done. We put away the four books on the cart and were quickly on here blogging. There are some older kids in here doing some sort of work. The sub sems nice enough.

Today was a little bit better since we had something new to do. What we did was we cut the extra laminating film off of the book covers for the new books. Then we had to put the covers on the books. Finally the bell rang and it was time to go.

Today I did the usual I checked in books, magnetized them, walked them through the security system, and put them on the right shelf. Then if you didn’t think that was a lot to do try having to put more books on their right shelf. First I put the biographies on their right shelves. Then I put the fictions on their right shelves. Today we had a substitute. But that didn't mean we got to do what we wanted we had to check in books, magnetize them, and walk them through the security system to make sure they were magnetized right. And if that wasn't enough we had to make sure that the books were in the right order.

Today we didn't do much. I checked the book drop, but there weren't any books. The sub said we could go on the computer or read so I planned to blog and then read or finish homework. I realized I had already finished all of the home work I had on me, so I read the rest of the time. I like days lacking tape, sharpies, or power points.

Today, we "shelf shifted."
First, we checked in the books in the book drop. Then we moved the books. This was, also, very tedious. It was pretty quick. It did take a while, though.
Today, Friday, I am in Hawaii. I will do some extra credit, such as right now how I will tell what I did so far. This is basicly it.

Thursday we shifted the selves in the nonfiction area. The shelves were so dusty that we all got dust in are faces. PS: You need to dust all the shelves in the library because it makes me sneese.
Today in media aide Mrs. Roof wasn’t there and I think she won’t be here for the rest of the week. There was a luncheon in the library today so we had to go in very quietly and sit in the back room and read for the whole period or do something quietly.
