Meadows Library blog 2nd Semester 2008
This year, you will write at least one paragraph every night that you had a Library Media Aide class during the day. The purpose for this assignment is to strengthen your descriptive writing skills and provide a record for yourself, your parents and for me about what you do each day during this class. I prefer 3 paragraphs of well-written, correctly spelled descriptive record of what you did during your Library Media Aide class. This blog participation is one rubric for this class. The more that you write the higher your grade will be in the class.

I came in the class and found that I’m the only boy in my class. There are 3 girls and 1 boy. I learned how to scan books and check them out. Ms. Roof set up an account for me to blog my homework.
This is my first day in Media Aide. I found out that I have two other classmates. I learned how to magnitize books.. and if they haven't been magnitized, they would beep through the out door. I also learned how to organize the Meadows Library books. I just set up an account, and now I am leaving a blog for my homework.

Today in media aide we started by filling out our information cards. Then, while you were helping Josh set up his account, Mallory, Meghan, and I all started to organize books on the alphabetical cart. Then, when we finished we started shelving the books in the number area. Then, you called me over and I started setting up my account.... and lastly the bell rang and we were off to our next class.

This was the first day for me as a Library Media Aide. Today we learned how to tape the books, so that they do not labels don’t smear. I also learned how to check in and out books.
Today in media aide I learned how to get the books in order. I also learned how to magnetize books and how to check the out. Ms. Roof also gave me a paper that showed me how to write a blog to show what I learned that day.
Today in Media aid I filled out a note card that asked us our name, number, and best subject. I also learned how to check-out and check in a book at the desk computer. After, I organized books by their last name.
On my first day of Media Aide we first came into the media center and filled out the card with all my information on it. We then learned to check in books. After checking in the books we had to magnetize the books so that if they weren’t checked out then the alarm would go out if someone tried to go out the door with it. Lastly we made our own gmail accounts. Then I learned how to post on the blog and this is what I am currently doing.
Today is my first day of media aide. I got to check in a book and check out several. I am now setting up my blog and don’t have to set up an email on gmail.

Today during media aide we taped bar codes to books for the library. Then we learned how to check in books, renew them, and even check out books. Also I got a Gmail account.
Today was my first day as a Media Aide. I did not know that this class would be so mathematical. But over all it is as I thought. I think being a Media Aide will be fun as well as some work.
On my first day as a media aide I wrote down my information of a note card for Ms. Roof. Then I and the other media aide checked in half of the books in the book drop. Then we magnetized them so if somebody tried to take them out of the library without checking it out it would sound the alarm. Next we made sure they were magnetized and then separate them by category and put them on a cart to be shelved. And last we made are Gmail accounts a stated to blog when the bell rang. I already enjoy being a media aide on the first day.

It was my first time in my new Media Aid class. First I filled out a card then Ms. Roof taught me how to check in and check out books. When you check out books you have to demagnetize it. When you check them in you have to magnetize them so the alarm will go off if anyone tries to steal books or anything.
I missed my first day of media aid because I was at Sunnyslope High School Shadowing a student. My first day, I filled out a note card with important information. I also created my G-mail account .
On Monday I shadowed Sunny Slope and went to a couple of classes that were very interesting. Today I created a note card that I had to put my home phone, my e-mail address, and what I mainly strong in. I also created a g-mail account. That is what happened on my first day as a media aid.
Today was the first day of Media Aide. We filled out cards with our information on it and we also learned how to check books in and out. After we did those two things we put some fiction books in order and put them away and did the same thing with some non-fiction books.

This was my first day in Media Aide. On Monday we filled out note cards. We put away the books by number and checked-in and out books. I didn’t like the math portion so much but Language Arts sounds better and a lot more fun. Also it was really fun getting to do this with people I know!

Monday was my first day in Media Aide. At first my teacher sat me down to write my information card. Next a class came in, and checked in and out books, it was kind of hard because I was the only student that showed up that day, but after a few students checked out books I got the hang of it. Also I learned how to magnetize and de-magnetize books; I learned a lot of things in Media Aide on Monday.

Today was my first day in Media Aide. We first cut overdue book papers in half to make two separate papers. Then we help by highlighting the word “overdue” and the date in which they were supposed to be returned. After that we sorted them out into piles according to homeroom teacher.
Today in Media Aide I put labels on the books. At first we didn't do them right and we had to start over. But we eventually got the hang of it! I also magnitized books and made sure that they worked.

Today in Media Aid I learned to put tags on books. First you look at the tag on the front and find the smaller matching one. Then you peel off the back and stick it on the spine of the book. After that you take some clear tape and put it over the tag to make sure it sticks on.
Today in media aid, we found out how to write in the blog. I already had a Gmail account, so I was able to do it right away.
After this, we checked out books for people. I have seen people do that, but I have never done it myself. All you do is type in the first 3 letters in their name with a star after it. The computer finds it automatically. This is very helpful.
People are supposed to bring their planners to the library. The thing I always notice is they never do. It is much easier with the last name, though.

Today in media aid, I cut papers in half to make overdue slips. Then, we highlited the date that the book was overdue if it was older than a month. (I use we lightly because we have a class of two.) We put these in alphabetical order according to teacher. This post was ment to be before my other one. So far I am having troubles with this website.

Today in my media aide class there were no books to check in or out. So, I started putting spine labels and genere labels. At first we messed up but then we fixed them. This work took all of the period.

Today in media aide I put little magnetizers in the books. I also stamped the books for the meadows library. I learned that you need to put a stampon page 33 i every book.
Later on my first real day of media aid I learned how to check in books and magnetize them.

Today we learned to shift the shelves to have more room to put books away. Then we put all the books away (the decimal ones). We have 5 minutes left in class so she is allowing us to do our homework in class. We learned many thnigs today in class today.

Then I had to walk through the security system to make sure the magnet worked. Then I had to stack the books on the shelf in the correct order. Finally the bell rang.

I had to check a book in, magnetize it, walk it through security. I had to stack them on the right shelf. I got a Gmail account then I caught up on my blogging. Then the bell rang.
On January 15th in Media Aide, I made my account on Gmail. Then I helped some students check out books for the remainder of the period. It is a lot easier when they have their planner.
On January 18th in Media Aide, I helped by cataloging some books. We cataloged two books. It was confusing to do it at first but then I got it and was doing it on my own. I also memorized the website to Blog (I had forgotten the past night).
Today in Media Aid, we cataloged some books. It is pretty easy to do. First you either scan the ISBN code or enter the title. Then, you scan a barcode and write the number down. After that you just choose a catagory to put it in. Some books we had to skip because the computer couldn't find them.

I learned how to use the laminator. Also I cut the book covers we laminator and put them back on the book. Then we put the bar codes on the new books.
On Friday we helped check in a lot of students. They were in Ms. Johnstons class. After we checked in the students we went to go help in the office. We put papers in the teachers' mailboxes. After we helped in the office the bell rang and we were done.

Last time in media aide we were busy! First, there were some students from 6th grade checking out books, so we helped out with that. Then, we helped Darby in the office. We distributed sheets of pink paper into each teacher's mailbox. Then, we peeled off stickers from somem reverence books.

There wasn't a lot of books to check-in or out so we fixed them. We put stickers on them to classify there genre.Also we blogged a bit and had fun!!
We check out A LOT of books to Ms.Johnstons class and checked in books. Then we magnitized them and classified them on the carts. Then we helped peel the sticker labels off and put tape on the actual labels. I was an OK day but fun!!!
Today in media aide I worked alone because my classmate wasn’t there. For the whole period I cut pieces of tape out and put them on the labels witch where on the spine and front of the book. For the label on the spine I had to cut smaller pieces of tape and for the labels on the front I of the books I made the piece of tape bigger. But on some of the books the pieces of tape where the same size. I messed up a few books but not that bad. I also took the scissors along the bottom and top of a few books because there was lamination over the cover. Just as Ms. Roof was showing me how to do the next task the bell rang. Media aide is so fun!

Today in media aide we were checking out books for the fifth graders who were learning how to use the library.

Today I have officially started my first blog and I didn’t get to blog on the first day I did not gat to blog it was fun first day. Day two was better it was fun stamping books and learning a library secret.

Today in media aide we laminated books. We also orderd the catologs. I also did my blog.
Today I learned how to put the books that were on the fiction cart away. Then I did more labels. Also I taped the labels to the books.
On my second day of Media Aide, and other peoples third, we first checked in books and magnetized them as usual. Next we tried something new and worked on powerpoint. On the powerpoint we put the new birthdays and lunches for the next week.
Today in the library I magnatized all the books that had to be checked in. Then I hilighteof d all the dates that were over due. Then I put them in the teacher's boxes. And for the rest of class I shelved books.
I learned 10 facts on Arizona.I also learned the way to go to the website to post my blog.I also learned where the biography books are.
Today we check in and out books. We also had to do these questions for this contest and the book josh and i had, didn't have a lot of information in them. I helped Molly find a biography for Ms. Sweeney's class. I helped Piper find a shirley Temple book. Then we sorted magazines. It was a fun day!!!

On my third day of media aide we first checked in books and magnetized them then we made sure they were magnetized by taking them through the security system and last put them on the on the cart to be shelved. Then we did something that we had never done before we updated the birthdays and the lunch menu for this week and only for the lunch menu Monday and Tuesday of next week. I really enjoy media aide!
Yesterday in media aide I put tape ovet the bar codes on the books. When I did that I found where the books went and put them away. Last I Made a 10 question scavenger hunt and finished first.
today in media aid i was the camra man for the announcments.i will continue to do this every other day of the week.i also checked in some turned in books, and learned how to check in magazines.
Today I learn how to use the library’s book checking system. The books that I was looking up were award winners. But I was unable to find more then three books. It was fun looking up books.
Today in media aide we looked up books on the catalog and we were able to blog to Ms.Roof and then we were able to get on the computer and play some game

Today in Media Aid A classroom came in and we check out and checked in thier books. I helped them find books and taught them how to read the barcode to try to find a book!! I learned how to renew a book.
Today I filed in books. I also found out which one I like to do best. I like fiction better becaause it is easier.
Today we put some of fiction and non-fiction aways non-fiction better tnan fiction.
I loved checking in and out books and magnetizing them. I liked filing the fiction and bio. Books best because it is easer then non fiction and reference. I like filing the reference because it is a challenge. I promise I won’t tell any one the secret of the medal strips, even know it’s funny to watch people to freak out when the alarm goes off. I love media aid!
We seperated meadowgrams on Friday and also copied the pink papers on the scheduled for next year. The next time I had media aid we found questions for a contest. We went through a book on Arizona to find the questions.

today i put some tape over labels and put the books away
Today I got a gmail account. I wasn't able to last time. One of the other things I did toady was make room on the shelfs to fit books on. There were ALOT of books. (I'm a little late posting)
Today we had a sub. I put 2 books on the shelf.
Today we have a sub, and he told us to put the books away and there were like 2 books and now he is allowing us to go on the computer!

Today in Media Aid, January 43rd, we had to put the security magnets in some books. Besides this, we checked in some books. After so, we put old magazines in the files. It was hard to work around the TVs and overheads. We also cheked in some books. This time the kids had their planners so it was much easier. :P
Today, Ms. Roof was absent. The substitute told us to check in the books (there were none) and then we wrote our blog/comments. At this point in time as I am writing this I plan to work on my book report untill the bell rings. It has been an uneventful day today. Untill next time, = )

Today in media Aide All the computers were shut down so i didn't do much. 1 thing i did was check-in some magazines. I also read a book.

Today in library we did over due notices. I first cut them all. Then while the other two media aids set up an account i started highlighting all of the dates that were over due form December back. Then the two boys came over so I gave them some of the over dues notices. After that we organized then by teacher and put them in their boxes. A new kid ,Miles, joined the class put before he could really do anything the bell rang.

Two days ago was my first day in media aid, i got there late because i swithed out of my old P.E. class. Today i helped Zach film the announcements, checked out books to sixth graders, and taped barcodes on books.
Today in media aide we checked in books and put them back on the shelf. Then we started another project we went in the little back room and Ms. Roof showed us what to do then we started. First we started on one side of the shelves throwing away all the magazines that were older than 2004 then we made new name tags for them and put them back on the shelf. There was one that had magazines from 1995-1996! We finished about half.
Today in media aide we couldn’t check in book because the computers were down. So first we finished what we did last time which was to throw away magazines that were older than 2004 and make new labels for their box. We had so many boxes left over because we threw away so many magazines. We actually filled several trash cans! And since we finished that very quickly we got to read the rest of the period.
Today in media aide we checked in book and put them on the carts to be shelved. Then Ms. Roof showed us are next task which was to put new barcodes on and put tape over them on magazines from the teacher lounge. We had to put new barcodes on because the old ones were to fat. I dislike the clear tape because every time I took a piece it would come up in two or three pieces

Today in Media Aid, we checked in some books. After this, we put them back on the shelves where they belong. It is easy to find the fiction books, but I can't say the same for non-fiction. It is still pretty easy.

Today we only did one thing. We put barcode labels on books. Mallory and I put barcodes on books while Jacqueline typed in new labels. When Jacqueline was done we all put the new labels on. Thats all we did then the bell rang.
Today in media aid we didn't do much. WE took books and replaced their bar codes. We did this because they were too tong. Then we covered them with tape. We did this until the bell rang.

Today I put books in the correct shelfs.
Today in media aid i checked in two books, and i took off barcode lables!!!! I also took the monitor scanner and went around scanning books!

today in Media Aid, we taped over open stickers there were tons of books to tape. Just when we thought we were done, there was a whole cart-full of books to tape. It was a very boring task.
Today in media aide I put booka pack in its place. I also checked in books and checked out books. I also used the smart board.
Today in media aide we first checked in books as usual. Then we worked on taping new labels onto two different sets of books for the rest of the class period.

Today in media aide we did pretty much the same thing as we did on tuesday. We just checked in some books and then started typing in more barcodes, but not for as long. Then, we printed them all and stuck them all on and taped over them. Then, the bell rang and we left.

Today we labeld more books. Then we learned how to orginize new magazines that came in. After that we learned how to "repair" books. What you have to do is put a special kind of glue on the spots in the books where they were ripped, and then you put a rubber band around thee book to make sure the page will stay still. And now we are allowed to do our homework in class!

February 2nd in Media Aide, we labeled books. We did this by taking new labels that had shorter bar codes, and replacing them with ones with really long bar codes. Then we taped the the bar codes on with clear tape.
Today,2-4-08, in Media Aid, we did, yet again, more taping. Because we are now experienced tapers, we finished that pretty quickly. After a while, you kind of get the hang of it. After this, Ms. Roof let us do our blogs. It is kind of fun to do, if you like that sort of thing. (I do.)

wazzzzzzzuuuuuup today we taped books and it was very boring yet kinda fun. Then we hhad free time then i kept saying wazzzzzzuuuuuup. so peace out and wazzzzzzzzzuuuuuuuuuuup!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then we put tape on the labels of books (the labels were on the spine and front) we finished the hole cart then we wheeled the cart out and put all the book on the shelve. Then we started putting labels on the magazines like we did last time when we ran out of labels we started typing in barcodes on the computer for other magazines that didn’t have labels I finished a whole box and started on another one when the bell rang.

Then we did what we started last time which was to enter magazines barcodes into the computer so it would make new labels because the other ones were to long .Then we took the labels we just made and put them on the correct magazine. Then after that we started putting tape over the labels we just made and were almost finished when the bell rang.
Today we checked in books like we do everyday. Then we continued working on the project. The one where we put new labels on the books.
Today we taped the books again but once we finished we got a surprise. A class came in to check books out books. We also renewed and check in books for Miss Roof.

I was putting the actual barcode on the books and the other people were taping. We were almost done when the bell rang!

What I did today was check some books in, then I magnetized them, next I ran them through the security system to see if they were magnetized properly, last but not least I organized them on he proper shelf. Then I put on some new labels on old ones and taped them down. Before I knew it the bell rang.

Today in media aide we put new barcodes on the books and put tape over them. We also took turns entering the new barcodes into the computer. We started putting them on but the bell rang.

Today we didn't do much we just pu books away and checked in books. That was it.

Today in media aid we checked in books, magnetized them, and put them away. Also Laura came to take pictures of us for the yearbook.
Today in Media Aide there wasn't much to do. A couple kids came in and they had some books to check in. After we checked them in they checked some books out. Then when they left there was nothing for us to do so we went on the Smart Board. Afterwards we helped Ms. Roof with the PowerPoint for the t.v. then we were done for the day.

Today in media I checked in one book when I came in. Then, you gave us the good news that there was nothing to do today! So, we just played on the SMART board and talked. Then, a class came in and os we just checked in a few kids and blogged. Finally, we went to help ms. roof with a power poing for the tv. And the bell rang so we left.

Today we help kids with a report. Than we wrote 10 questions. We checked out a few books. It was and ok Day.
Today we checked in a lot of books. We took the bar codes off and put tape on them. The tape gave me a headache. We did this until the day was over.
Today in Media Aide we checked in and out books and did the same thing that we did last time. It was fun I guess. The tape didn't smell too bad.

Today in media aide we checked in books, I checked in 4 books. We magnitized it and took it through the scanner. Then I took my books and filed them in the correct places. We did not have anything else to do so we played on the computer.
Today in Meadia Aid we each did five books to check in, and then magnitized them and went throught the door and if it beeped, then it was ready to go. Now if it did not beep, then you would have to magnitize it again until it worked. We are done with everything, so we got to play on the computer the rest of the time.
Today in Media Aid, we laminated some posters. This was pretty fun and quick. I was relived that I didn't have to do any taping. I really hate taping, if you didn't figure it out by now. After this we cut out the posters. Then, we checked out books untill the bell rang.

today in class 2-5-08 ray, zach, and i helped film the annoncements. After that we put codes into the computer. at the end of class we we taping labels to books.
today om 2-7-08 we helped film the announcement, and then helped put up a bulliten board. and right now we have to time to go on the computer to work on our blogs, which is what we are doing right now.

Today we didn't do that much stuff. I checked in all the books. I unmagnatized them then tested them. Then we got to go on the computer for the rest of the day.
today when i came to the library i though that we were going to do something very interesting, but we ended up not doing a whole lot of things, but i had some fun.
Today I finally got to put books away in the reference and non fiction spot. That was the only thing I had to do today.

Today we put tape on books. Wile we were putting tape on Eric was bickering about that he was slow on putting tape on. then we hade free time the rest of the day.
On wednesday i Put tape in books. I also put new stickers on the front of every book. I also entered codes into the computer.
Today i put labels on the sides of books. I also taped the front and sides of books. Last i checked in 4 books and now have free time.
wazzzzzzuuuuuuuuuppp again today i argued over dumb tape. then continued what i was dueing and finished taping. yay im done for the day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Today, I worked on an important assignment. whene my classmates where playing whith the smart board.
Today in media aide we tried something diffferent and instead of checking out books we went straight to putting some together. First off we put new labels and stamped the books. This was pretty much all we had to do because right then the bell rang.

Today I got to check in 5 books. Then I had to magnetize them and walk them through the security system to make sure they were magnetized right. Then I had to put them back on the shelves they belonged on. Then I had to check out books for three people. Which was really fun. Then for the rest of the period we got to play on the computer. Which wasn’t for very long. But it was fun anyways. Bye for now.

Today in media aide we started by checking in a few books. Then, an 8th grade class came in to learn about poetry and get some books. So, while you were teaching the class we just sat there. And then everyone checked in a bunch of books so we did that. Then the bell rang and we were off!

Today in Media Aide we checked in a few books at the beginning. Then an 8th grade class came in to research poetry to we just sat there for awhile. Then they checked in a couple of books so we did that, and that was the end of our day.
Well on Friday a 5TH grade class came in and checked out books and that's it!

Today we filed more books in the fiction and biography sections. Then we finish and go to play on the internet.
Today in the library we organized the library by putting the book back in the right spot and then we were able to go blog to Ms.Roff.
Today in media aide i checked in some magazines. Then i checked in some books and also checked out some books. Then I did my blog.
Today in media aide I got here late because I was in detention. So when I got there she was already showing him how to do task so she showed me how to do the part after his which was to put stamps on the side, top and bottom of the books the stamp said “Madison Meadows. After that we put the medal strips into the books that make them magnetized. Then after that there were to things that needed to be done I chose the easy one before he had a change to which was to put the labels on the front of the book that said the name of the book the author and had the barcode. A finished before him so I started helping him with his task which was to put the labels on the side that said what type of book it was like biography we didn’t finish that.
Today in media aide we checked in one book each and put them on the carts to be shelved. Then Ms. Roof said there was nothing to do that everything was up to date and that we could do what ever we wanted. So I chose to spend a little of my time catching up on my bloging.
Today we are all caught up on work. So today we had free time all day. We mostly played on the computer all day.

Today, 2-8-08, we posted things on the anouncements. We went into powerpoint and wrote the birthdays. I got to write mine because it's the 15th. We also wrote the lunch choices for the week. There are a lot of tuna chef salads. It sounds gross.
Today in Media Aid (I guess it's actually spelled aide. That looks weird to me.), we put different books in bins. We had too many copies of them, so we gave the excess books to the teachers. I have never been in the theacher's lounge.

Today in media aide we first chaecked in books. Next we learned that Mrs. Roof was getting rid of some books. We had to peel off the labels of these books and also cross off any stamps that said madison or Meadows in the books.
We've done the same thing for a while. We checked in books. We wrote on the SmartBoard it was so fun!
